Okay, seeing as how the field clean up and the TOP GUN SHOOT OUT are going to be the same day, that’s the date for our SHOOT OUT, so now you know.

It looks like it’ll be us old guys from the RAMS, shooting against those young guys from SWARM. They think they’ll cream us, little do they know that when it comes to winning, older is wiser!

So this should be a fun day, we’ll get the field cleaned up, have a nice field lunch and shoot some BB’s at cardboard terrorist. Maybe get some flying in too if the field isn’t to wet!

To sign up for the clean up, let me know via e-mail and, let me know if you’re entering the shoot out. If you don’t have a BB gun, we’ll have one there you can use. There will be a Trophy to the two man winning team, also a cash prize and bragging rights.

Okay guys, it’s all official now… and, you may want to bring some gloves and boots if it’s muddy. We’ll supply everything else, even some laughs… so thanks in advance and remember, this is your field, your club, what you do to benefit the field, benefits you too! Thanks again.

I’m going to schedule the Top Gun Shoot out sometime in the next few weeks, maybe the 3rd of April, great day to get some field clean up done by all the second places shooters, because Chuck and I will win, no doubt about that, that means that we don’t have to work, just supervise, as that’s yet another benefit of the winning team!

Well there is a one just outside of Watertown, I’d like to tour it and see what they do as a non-AMA field compared to our field so, I’m organizing a bile ride to tour their field.

We’ll meet on a nice spring morning (a Saturday) have breakfast and then all ride their on our bikes, (those without bikes can come to in their trucks, cars or ?) and we’ll get a chance to see what they do that’s different than the rest of us.

Remember when you were a kid and your Dad gave you your first BB gun? WOW… that was great! I have an old magazine showing a Dad and son shooting at paper targets with A Daisy pump airgun and I thought “I remember doing that!”

So in the spirit of that old memory and that fact that I’m looking to have some fun with our members, I’ve come up with the “TOP GUN BB GUN SHOOT OUT” to be held at our field using clay targets, balloons and plastic water bottles filled with water.

The BB’s will be steel (no lead) and the targets all made from earth product so no contamination. BB’s have no real power beyond 10 yards so the possibility of injury is almost zero (provided we keep Jeff (UB) locked in his truck!)

What will make this more fun is, there will be a cash prize, and a Top Gun Trophy and food and soda for everyone. It will work with two man teams shooting only BB’s (supplied) at safe targets with no danger of anyone being hit, the trajectory will be into the woods. It’s the two man teams total score that counts. 

The event will take place on a Saturday morning and is open to all club members and their choice of a partner, that person doesn’t have to be a club member, so if you want to bring your son or wife or sharp shooting friend, that’s okay.

It’ll cost five bucks a man with (after the prize money is deducted) the balance given to the two field clubs. The losers will be given a plastic bag, then instructed to clean up the grounds while the winners look on thumping their chests (I expect that to be me and Chuck) and the friendly competition will be on an even scale, everyone has the same targets, it’s just who has the best eye (That would be me and Chuck of course) and last, is this an attempt to get people out and do clean up at the field being hidden as a fun event?  ahhhh yeah! But when was the last time you shot a BB gun at a clay target for money a throphy and bragging rights? For me, that was over 50 years ago… I couldn’t hit the targets then either! So, dust of that old BB gun (BB guns only) and pick a team mate and sign up with me (e-mail me or call me with your named partner) and we’ll get this Fun Event up and “SHOOTING!”

Last for all you worry warts, these are BB’s, not bullets. They go 10 yards at best and fall to the ground in 20 yards, steel BB’s not lead and clay birds fixed to the ground not tossed into the air. All adults (except Hoss)  and no chance of injury (except for UB shooting himself in the foot) but we’ll keep and eye on them.

If you don’t own a BB gun, we have one you can use, but no guarantee on how good it’ll be, it may have a bent sight, increasing Chuck and I advantage over you… hey, we cheat!

Food, fun and a spring field clean up, what better way to spend a spring morning at our field? Okay, you’ve been challenged, it’s BB’s at high noon!
